De Penn Station a Secaucus y de allí directo a Meadowlands: SunnyNews hizo el recorrido durante el espectacular concierto de Guns N’ Roses y explica paso a paso una de las formas más simples de llegar al estadio desde Nueva York.
NUEVA YORK / EAST RUTHERFORD.- Ir a un concierto o a un partido en el MetLife Stadium puede parecer complicado para quien visita Nueva York por primera vez. El estadio está en East Rutherford, Nueva Jersey, pero llegar desde Manhattan en transporte público es bastante más sencillo de lo que parece.
SunnyNews hizo el recorrido completo con motivo del concierto que Guns N’ Roses ofreció este miércoles 12 de agosto en el MetLife Stadium, una noche espectacular de rock que se extendió durante unas tres horas ante un estadio colmado.
La experiencia sirvió también para comprobar cómo funciona el operativo de transporte que conecta Manhattan con uno de los principales escenarios deportivos y musicales de Estados Unidos.
El punto de partida: Penn Station
Para quienes se alojan en Manhattan, una de las alternativas más prácticas comienza en New York Penn Station, ubicada debajo de Moynihan Train Hall y Madison Square Garden, entre las avenidas Séptima y Octava.
Una vez allí hay que buscar los trenes de NJ TRANSIT.
El detalle fundamental es que no existe un tren directo entre Penn Station y MetLife Stadium. El viaje se realiza en dos etapas.
La primera es:
New York Penn Station → Secaucus Junction
En las pantallas de Penn Station hay que buscar un servicio de NJ TRANSIT que tenga parada en Secaucus Junction. En los paneles electrónicos, los trenes que paran allí aparecen identificados con la sigla SEC.
El trayecto es muy corto y Secaucus es la primera gran conexión ferroviaria después de salir de Manhattan.
La combinación en Secaucus
Al llegar a Secaucus Junction comienza la segunda parte del viaje.
Durante los grandes eventos del MetLife Stadium, la estación cuenta con señalización especial y personal que orienta a los pasajeros hacia los trenes que parten rumbo a Meadowlands.
Es difícil perderse: carteles distribuidos por la estación indican claramente “MetLife Stadium” y la dirección que deben seguir los asistentes.
En determinados eventos también se organiza el flujo de pasajeros mediante pulseras que facilitan el control y ordenamiento de la enorme cantidad de personas que se dirige simultáneamente al estadio.
Desde Secaucus hay que tomar el servicio especial:
Secaucus Junction → Meadowlands
Los trenes utilizan la Meadowlands Rail Line y, durante los grandes conciertos y partidos, NJ TRANSIT establece servicios especiales.
Meadowlands: el tren deja al pasajero frente al estadio
Este es probablemente el punto que más sorprende a quien realiza el recorrido por primera vez.
La estación Meadowlands está literalmente junto al complejo del MetLife Stadium.
El viaje desde Secaucus dura aproximadamente diez minutos y, al bajar del tren, basta seguir el movimiento de los pasajeros y caminar unos minutos para encontrarse frente a los accesos del estadio.
No hacen falta taxis, Uber ni otro transporte adicional.
Para recitales multitudinarios como el de Guns N’ Roses, el sistema permite trasladar a miles de personas evitando el tráfico que se genera alrededor del complejo antes y después de los eventos.
Guns N’ Roses como prueba
SunnyNews realizó todo este recorrido el miércoles para asistir al concierto de Guns N’ Roses, incluido dentro de la gira mundial 2026 de la legendaria banda.
La jornada comenzó en Manhattan, siguió en Penn Station y Secaucus y terminó frente al escenario del MetLife, donde Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan y compañía ofrecieron un show de alrededor de tres horas.
La banda repasó distintas etapas de su historia con canciones de varios de sus discos y convirtió al gigantesco estadio de Nueva Jersey en una enorme celebración del rock.
La experiencia permitió comprobar algo importante para cualquier turista que esté en Nueva York: no es necesario alquilar un automóvil para asistir a un gran evento en el MetLife Stadium.
¿Y para regresar a Manhattan?
El procedimiento después del espectáculo es exactamente el inverso:
Meadowlands → Secaucus Junction → New York Penn Station
Tras los grandes eventos, NJ TRANSIT implementa servicios especiales desde Meadowlands hacia Secaucus. Como decenas de miles de espectadores abandonan el estadio prácticamente al mismo tiempo, pueden formarse filas y conviene seguir las indicaciones del personal.
Una vez en Secaucus se realiza nuevamente la combinación, esta vez tomando un tren de NJ TRANSIT con destino a New York Penn Station.
Un consejo importante: no tirar ni perder el ticket, ya que es necesario conservar un pasaje válido para abordar el servicio de regreso desde Meadowlands.
Una recomendación antes de salir
El servicio ferroviario especial hacia Meadowlands no funciona de la misma manera todos los días. Está habilitado para determinados eventos de gran convocatoria y sus horarios dependen de cada espectáculo o partido.
Por eso, antes de salir de Manhattan conviene consultar la programación específica de NJ TRANSIT para el evento al que se asistirá.
Para grandes conciertos y partidos, sin embargo, la combinación Penn Station → Secaucus → Meadowlands es una de las maneras más prácticas de transformar un evento en el MetLife Stadium en una excursión de pocas horas desde el corazón de Manhattan.
Y esta vez, el destino final tuvo una recompensa difícil de superar: tres horas de Guns N’ Roses bajo las luces del MetLife Stadium.

How to Get from Manhattan to MetLife Stadium: The Train Route We Took to See Guns N’ Roses

From Penn Station to Secaucus and then straight to Meadowlands: SunnyNews made the journey during the spectacular Guns N’ Roses concert and explains, step by step, one of the easiest ways to reach the stadium from New York City.
NEW YORK / EAST RUTHERFORD.- Going to a concert or a game at MetLife Stadium may seem complicated for someone visiting New York for the first time. The stadium is located in East Rutherford, New Jersey, but getting there from Manhattan by public transportation is much easier than it might appear.
SunnyNews made the entire journey to attend the Guns N’ Roses concert held at MetLife Stadium on Wednesday, August 12, a spectacular night of rock that lasted around three hours in front of a packed stadium.
The experience also provided an opportunity to see firsthand how the transportation system connecting Manhattan with one of the leading sports and entertainment venues in the United States works.
The starting point: Penn Station
For visitors staying in Manhattan, one of the most convenient options begins at New York Penn Station, located beneath Moynihan Train Hall and Madison Square Garden, between Seventh and Eighth avenues.
Once there, passengers need to look for NJ TRANSIT trains.
The key thing to know is that there is no direct train between Penn Station and MetLife Stadium. The journey is made in two stages.
The first one is:
New York Penn Station → Secaucus Junction
On the departure boards at Penn Station, look for an NJ TRANSIT service that stops at Secaucus Junction. Trains stopping there are identified on the electronic boards with the abbreviation SEC.
The ride is very short, and Secaucus is the first major rail connection after leaving Manhattan.
Changing trains at Secaucus
Upon arriving at Secaucus Junction, the second part of the journey begins.
During major events at MetLife Stadium, the station features special signage and staff members directing passengers toward trains bound for Meadowlands.
It is difficult to get lost: signs throughout the station clearly indicate “MetLife Stadium” and point attendees in the right direction.
For certain events, passenger flow is also organized using wristbands, helping staff manage and control the enormous number of people traveling to the stadium at the same time.
From Secaucus, passengers must take the special service:
Secaucus Junction → Meadowlands
Trains operate on the Meadowlands Rail Line, and during major concerts and games, NJ TRANSIT provides special event service.
Meadowlands: the train drops you right by the stadium
This is probably what surprises first-time visitors the most.
Meadowlands station is literally next to the MetLife Stadium complex.
The ride from Secaucus takes approximately ten minutes. After getting off the train, passengers simply follow the crowd and walk a few minutes to reach the stadium entrances.
There is no need for a taxi, Uber or any additional transportation.
For massive concerts such as Guns N’ Roses, the rail service moves thousands of people while allowing passengers to avoid much of the road traffic that builds up around the complex before and after major events.
Guns N’ Roses puts the route to the test
SunnyNews completed the entire journey on Wednesday to attend the Guns N’ Roses concert, part of the legendary band’s 2026 world tour.
The day began in Manhattan, continued through Penn Station and Secaucus, and ended in front of the stage at MetLife, where Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan and the rest of the band delivered a show lasting around three hours.
The band revisited different eras of its career with songs from several of its albums, turning the massive New Jersey stadium into a huge celebration of rock.
The experience demonstrated something important for any tourist visiting New York: you do not need to rent a car to attend a major event at MetLife Stadium.
And how do you get back to Manhattan?
After the show, the process is exactly the same in reverse:
Meadowlands → Secaucus Junction → New York Penn Station
Following major events, NJ TRANSIT operates special services from Meadowlands to Secaucus. Since tens of thousands of spectators leave the stadium at roughly the same time, lines can form, so it is important to follow instructions from transportation staff.
Once back at Secaucus, passengers make another connection, this time boarding an NJ TRANSIT train bound for New York Penn Station.
One important tip: do not throw away or lose your ticket, as you will need a valid ticket to board the return service from Meadowlands.
One recommendation before you leave
The special rail service to Meadowlands does not operate the same way every day. It is available for selected major events, and schedules depend on each concert or game.
For that reason, before leaving Manhattan, visitors should always check NJ TRANSIT’s specific schedule for the event they are attending.
For major concerts and sporting events, however, the Penn Station → Secaucus → Meadowlands connection is one of the most convenient ways to turn an event at MetLife Stadium into an easy trip from the heart of Manhattan.
And this time, the final destination came with a reward that was hard to beat: three hours of Guns N’ Roses under the lights of MetLife Stadium.
